Has anyone ever tried to add thc to beer? This isn't something I want to do as I'm allergic to it, but I'm curious as to how this came out for people, as I would think it would be something that would evolve off if added early.
Seriously, I've found that AHS, although the guy working there is really knowledgable and an alright guy, is overpriced, and so is homebrewmart for hops and yeast at least. Seems like the only two places in San Diego to get brewing supplies though :/
When you say krausen you are referring to the foamy head on the beer? I've done two hefe's and I lose them after 2-3 days, although the activity keeps for quite some time. Is that unusual? I pitch the yeast directly, no rehydration, and if its liquid yeast I pitch right out of the fridge, I...
Thats strange, whenever I do a Hefe I lose the Krausen after 2-3 days, and fermentation seems to be done in about 5-6. However, I am doing probably 3-4 gallon fermentations and I pitch the yeast directly from the tube, (white labs liquid hefe yeast). I do get a ton of yeast at the bottom of...
A krausen really isn't supposed to last that long on a hefeweizen. I would wait for it to die down or post pics and see if its a bacterial infection. The krausen is just yeast and wort proteins, but I'm not really sure I've never heard of them remaining after brewing.
Sierra Nevada pale ale, great bottles and a pretty good beer. I made the mistake of buying blue moon the first time, and it was painful when I realized that I couldn't use the twist offs. However, I just may give it a try this time anyway and see if they carbonate.:ban:
What is your favorite beer to brew and why? For me its been Hefeweizen because its easy, short, and I like the taste. I'd really like to get into brewing a Pilsner but economically its just not viable for me at the time, with the refrigeration and reracking and all.
I use iodophor mainly because I'm more comfortable with it as it is a needed trace element and because you can drink it at diluted levels of 12.5 ppm. Not so sure about star san but I don't trust myself with a concentrated acid at home just sitting there on the shelf.
I live in San Diego and most of the places around here end up being far more expensive than buying off the internet in bulk. The only place I've found that is cheap is Riverside's MoreBeer, but with shipping its really not economical to buy from them, and to drive its 1.5 hours out of my way...
Right on. I did a concentrated boil and got an OG of 1.092 with the concentrated boil, but then I diluted it by half. So I don't really know what my OG really was, I guess I'll just take an FG and if its low enough bottle. Or take an FG today and then one Saturday.
