    Topping off after fermentation

I was thinking it probably wasn't a big deal. My OG was 1.06 rather than 1.05 per the recipe. I'm probably going to bottle this time so maybe will add add'l water with priming sugar.

    Topping off after fermentation

It's a long story, but realized I did not add enough water when topping off. Maybe half gallon to a gallon short. Has been fermenting for a 5 days and active fermentation had ended. Can I top off now with spring water or will that create a different problem?

    Corney Keg Problem

i brewed 2 5 gallon batches, and put into corney kegs with priming sugar to carbonate. about a week later, i noticed a small amount of beer bubbling up through the seams in the sealed lid on both kegs. when i opened the valve there was no pressure, so all the CO2 had escaped. Obiviously...

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll give it a shot

    Dry hop with pellets

Dry hopped a week ago. Want to keg but there is a scummy looking layer of dissolved hop pellets on top. What is best way to get beer into keg without the hop residue?

    Dry Hopping

Thanks for all the feedback. Sounds like I should wait another week.

    Dry Hopping

IPA has been in primary 1 week and I want to dry hop with 1 oz Amarillo pellets and ferment 2 more weeks. Should I rack to secondary or just leave in primary? Do I just throw the pellets on top?

    Keg Aging

How did it carbonate if it wasn't hooked up to CO2? did you add priming sugar to the keg?

    Keg Aging

bottled beer has to age for at least a couple weeks to carbinate. many on here have said that the beer also benefits from aging even longer in the bottle. if you're kegging, would you let it age in the keg for just as long (ie. a month). could this be done at room temperature before...

    Winter brewing in garage

I'd be more concerned with carbon monoxide poisoning than condensation. how are you going to vent? i'd think the solution would be the same for both the CO and the water vapor.

A wee bit of advice requested...

Same situation as you. I made my first batch, and IPA, and it's sitting in the fermentor. i didn't want to wait 5 weeks to see how it turned out, so started the second brew . . . an irish stout (also one of my favorites). it was the exact same process, just more specialty grains and less...

Question about filtering hop pellets from wort

i've only done a couple batches so far, but used muslim bags for both the hops and the specialty grains. i had virtually no sediment left in the wort either time. i even poured it through a strainer into the fermentor and there was barely anything.

Question about filtering hop pellets from wort

what is the downside of using mulsim bags? cost?

    plans for bottling... (first timers)

When siphoning from carboy to the bottling bucket, what do you do about any remaining krausen/yeast floating on top? do you siphon as much as you can without getting any of that layer in the bottling bucket?

    Hydrometer ?

I had the same question - actually, i took a hydrometer reading but did it before i added water at the end so not very useful. I guess i could probably divide by two as an estimate. How do you take a hydromter reading once it's in the carboy? Do you take some beer out (ie. with a turkey...
