Haha... well this will be interesting. I decided to try this recipe tonite. But at the LHBS I asked for the Special Aromatic and looks like there was some confusion with the lady there because I'm pretty certain I got regular Aromatic. So this beer is going to end up being very dark and very...
this sounds good! i will put this on my list for this summer. with the heat rising around here i will need to use my wine cooler to keep the primary cooler. i love the idea of a low ABV, hoppy blonde for the summer months.
I didn't get a bread smell at all, i have almost no odor at all on my batch. it might clean up with some time but not sure, sounds strange. what yeast did you use?
Reducing DMS, coagulation of unwanted proteins, getting rid of other unwanted compounds, sterilization, etc...
More info at the below link, I'm by no means an expert, just know what I read:

No hops for the first 15 min of the 60 min boil.
I used WLP001 yeast and the temperature spiked to 75C during a hot spell in Oregon so when i tasted my batch of this beer while racking to keg I have some banana flavors. Not sure if that was due to the high temperatures or not.
yikes, i made this recipe but checked last night and the gravity was already at 1.004. i quickly racked the beer. it may have quickly dropped due to the high temperature in Oregon over past week.
anyways i'm hoping it still tastes good.
yep. i mentioned my pre-boil starting gravity that i got with my efficiency of 75% which lead to a post-boil OG of 1.056.
just mentioning that i would need to boost my grain bill with my lower efficiency compared to the recipe author. :)
i brewed this over the weekend. i used the exact same grain bill but with 75% efficiency only got 1.05 starting gravity. i would recommend boosting the grain bill if you have efficiency in the 70-80% range.
the OG after the boil was 1.056
well i didn't quite get this ready for World Cup Final, that was too ambitious. i had it kegged 4 days before the game and took a taste and it turned out great but i decided it was more important to be patient and let this one age a few more weeks. i think it will be well worth the wait...
17 days in the primary and just transferred to the secondary cold-crashing in the beer fridge. FG reading is at 1.02. So went from 1.092 to 1.020.
Took a little taste and it has a sweet front flavor and also a little woody aftertaste. hmm not sure about that but hopefully it will even out a...
yeah it looks like i was over ambitious. 10 days later and the gravity in the primary has dropped to 1.025, but i would still like to go a bit further and it's still bubbling away, so i will leave it in the primary for at least another 4 days.
i did take a taste and wow, i think this one will...
i did this one tonite but didn't have the Crystal Hops so I doubled up on the Amarillo hops at the end. i hit 1.092 OG which is my highest yet.
I'm looking forward to bringing this out in 1 month for World Cup Final party! Cheers
