yep, pretty high chance it's actually not a London ale strain, since it bears all the hallmarks of a NWO conspiracy. Wake up sheeple! Bush did the towers
The advertisements for this yeast (in the UK at least) contained an endorsement from John Keeling (of Fullers) so it seems clear that they're positioning this as a Wy1968 / WLP002 replacement, even though they're not saying it directly.
I bought a 500g pack but I haven't used it yet. A rep from Lallemand told me:
The fact that it doesn't floc like WLP002 / Wy1968 certainly makes me raise an eyebrow, but I'll wait and see. I'd really, really like this to be as good as WLP002 because I use that yeast a lot for 100 - 200 litre...
Hi - I work in London every week, and used to live here, these are my recommendations.
Pubs (craft beer):
Mother Kellys (http://motherkellys.co.uk/) - Short trip east on the Central line. Always excellent modern British and European craft beer, all keg, no cask. Also an amazing bottle...
well, i guess it's different over here in the UK, where probably 90% of homebrewers are getting their malt crushed by the same (highly regarded) guy. with so many other variables to work with in pursuit of making good beer, adjusting the crush of my grain just isn't even on my radar. maybe this...
Whatever pal. I brew good tasting, good looking beer with consistent efficiency and I've never once looked at a 25kg sack of Maris Otter and thought - "I wish I'd milled this myself". If I'm going to end up with a right arm like Arnold Schwarzenegger, there are more fun ways of doing it...
here's how a pump helps me make better beer:
- recirculating the mash (better clarity and efficiency)
- recirculating wort during chilling (better hop aroma from faster chilling; clearer wort thanks to recirculation through hop bed)
i get this after drinking hydro samples (full of yeast) and i find US-05 to be the worst, marriage-threatening offender. my advice is either drop your beer clearer, or experiment with other yeasts that give a better aroma profile
i'm horrendously lazy in every aspect of my life but i've thoroughly documented every one of my brews from the first one two years ago - i've done 39 since then. i keep all my notes in Evernote and i love reading back through them, especially when i'm shirking at work. they're an invaluable...
eat here:

decent food, jolly atmosphere, loads of beer (including the various Westvleterens)
get your tickets for the Halve Maan tour a couple of hours in advance if you're pressed for time - I just turned up, and had to miss out as a result (my son...
