Was taking a gravity reading to see if a beer had finished fermenting. On the way back to the cabinet to put it away, I dropped the hydrometer. And of course, I had no shoes on. Pulling shards of glass out of your feet isn't fun.

I've done it on a gas stove, but yeah... had to balance it between two burners going at the same time to get enough heat going. Not exactly all that safe. Turkey Fryer setup is definitely a better way to go.

Colorado- kind of a big fan of Colorado Plus. Beer bar up in Wheat Ridge that has over 50 taps of Colorado beer only. They also brew a few of their own things including Monkey Brain, a banana cream stout I want to do a clone of.

When I was a kid, we had a swarm like that stop across the street for a few days. Not exactly a fun time. The mead sound pretty good though. Interested to see how it turns out.

I'd recommend using the oxygen barrier caps at least if you're going to just cap. Swingtops and wax dipping are also a decent way to go. My personal choice is using the zorks- easy to use and nice looking. Mind you, if you're expecting everything to be drank relatively quickly, it doesn't...

For me, it was a salted wheat. I've had one or two professionally brewed ones that were amazing, but it didn't work for me. Never could quite get the balance just right.
