I searched and searched and didnt find an answer.

I need to make a starter, but the only DME I have is the 5 lbs. needed for the recipe. If I use some of this for the starter, will it make a big difference in the recipe? Will the wort be off because I used a cup of DME for the starter? Thanks.

If you make a 1 liter starter with the DME out of the recipe, and pitch the whole starter into the brew, you won't have lost any of the DME.

Thanks, that's what common sense was telling me, but I had read about getting the liquid off the top of the yeast before pitching from a starter, so I wasn't sure. Good to know!
