Hey guys, I'm brewing up the Sam Smith Taddy Porter clone from Austin soon. I've been brewing for awhile, but never used liquid yeast. Do I need a starter or just follow the instructions listed on the yeast?

Thanks.

take a look at this calculator: Mrmalty.com

Honestly i would just use the one vial without a starter. However, ideally you may need to have a higher number of yeast cells to achieve the "optimum" performance :).

Three Really good reasons for starters

Improves Yeast Health
Confirms viability
Raises numbers to appropriated level

The numbers of yeast and the health are the key features that will improve your beer and make you never doubt doing starters again.
