I live in a colder climate and am considering ordering a mini mash kit from one of the on-line home brew stores. They were unable to answer the questions, so I thought I would post them here.

is it o.k. to ship yeast this time of the year to a cold climate considering the yeast may be in sub-freezing temps for a part of their journey?

Will dry yeast travel better than liquid in colder climates?

Opinions please?

The closest store is over an hour's travel each way, so shipping is much more convenient. Thanks for your responses.

My yeast came packed in a gel-ice packet.

I know its suppossed to be kept cold, but I'm not sure about sub-freezing

RDWHAHB, order your supples I am pretty sure you would only have problem if you lived in a igloo in the arctic circle

I just ordered the mini-mash kit with yeast.

feel free to tell me that the yeast will arrive frozen, damaged, or D.O.A now that it's ordered. hahaha:cross:
