I have a couple of slurries of Wyeast 1968 in the fridge after brewing a Special Bitter a couple of weeks ago. I don't have anything hoppy, so I was thinking of making an IPA.

I have in stock:
Malt:
- Pilsner
- Maris Otter
Hops:
- Columbus
- Cashmere
- Willamette

I'd like to keep my purchase price on this low. I've only used recipes for IPAs before - this is my first time kind of making one up. What are y'all's thoughts? (I'd only need to buy the Munich and flaked wheat)

WY1968 slurry - it looks like it will be in the mid-low 60s in the garage next week.

If it were me and to not have to buy anything, I'd do an all MO or MO/pilsner and single hop Columbus, you'd need about 5oz, check out the Columbus IPA recipe at MoreBeer. But I would go with WY1056 or S05 to make sure I end up dry. Or mash lowish like 148F. This will get you in the low teens FG and an ABV around 7%.

That'll work fine as is.

If you want to modify:

You can do without the munich if you don't want to buy it, sub it out with some base grain.

For a regular IPA, I'd double that dry hop and do it at the end of fermentation, after a soft crash.

Thanks, y'all. I'm right by the beer store, so I'll add that little bit of Munich for color. Do you think the Columbus and Cashmere will play well together?
