I saw that. It happened after she dragged it inside to thaw it out...... and after she dropped her kitten in it....(I don't see how a kitten could have gotten inside it otherwise)

They said it was tied up so it wouldn't tip? WTF - a full barrel wouldn't tip over by accident. The husband probably got tired of both the cat and the wife and figured he'd get rid of them both!
The only way I could see this happening is if she broke her neck while "falling in", thus rendering her paralyzed (not dead) and unable to push herself up and out. The thing was only 1/3rd full of water. It doesn't add up...
This is probably an obesity related death, if you lean to far in to the barrel and are bottom heavy, the bottom pushes your head into the water. It is after all possible to drown in as little as an inch of water.
