I am going to be brewing my first extract brew tomorrow (http://www.midwestsupplies.com/ferocious-ipa.html). It calls for 6 lbs. of Gold liquid malt extract, 3.3 lbs of Amber liquid malt extract. Can I add the 6 lbs. of Gold liquid extract at the beginning of the boil and then add the 3.3 lbs of Amber liquid malt extract at the end? I'm trying to minimized the dark/caramalization notes of the IPA.

Thanks.

Sure. you could even do it in reverse. You need very little malt in the water for proper hop utilization.

Oh, that's interesting...so add the 3.3 lbs of extract at the beginning and then add the 6 lbs toward the end? How close to the end of my 60 min boil would I want to add the late addition?
