I am reading Designing Great Beers and decided to create my own recipes using just a spreadsheet.
I am actually stuck at the IBU calculation because even following the instructions in the book, I am facing difficulties.
Here is Ray Daniels' idea on how to calculate the IBU:
IBU=Woz*U% (decimal)*A%(decimal)*7.489/(Vgal*Cgrsvity)
This is simple...really, but when he gives an example of Cascade giving 3.3 IBU to the beer...well, I get 0.033
It simply doesnt make any sense.
He says:
Woz:0.5
A%:0.044
U%:0.12
Vgal:6
Cgravity:1
So, I use the given number and I get 0.033. How is that possible?
Has anyone read the book and faced the same problem?
