Why does my Wyeast dry mead smell like slightly aged catfood?

Hm I am trying a pack of Wyeast dry mead. I naturally spilled a little bit it of it on myself as I opened the package. Phew man this stuff smells just like the cat food I give my cat, Wellness brand chicken cat food, after it has sat for about a day. I thought that was really weird. Oh well an extra glass of homebrew and I forgot all about it.
