Yeah I just read this and was surprised because I would assume that beyond the immediate exterior of the aging warehouse the ethanol vapor would be too dilute to have any effects on biology.
If my house were a growth medium for whiskey fungus, I’d feel pretty darn pleased. I wonder if that free power washing is negotiable. I’d take 1/2 the cost equivalent in whiskey.
There has surely got to be a way to add an air scrubber for the storage buildings that would not break the bank, but could help reduce this problem. Or someone figure out a way to harvest the ethanol from the air and turn it into a useful 'Angels Tears' bi-product. The industry needs to solve this before the government gets ideas.
