I plan on putting oak chips into my secondary. If I soak my chips in whiskey, is that sanitary enough to add.? It seams if I boil my wood chips to sanitize it would defeat my objective

A nice long soak in the whiskey chips then direct pitch to your secondary fermenter works every time for me. They are sanitized by the 100 proof whiskey for sure.

I soaked my oak chips in bourbon for about 7 days during my primary, before transferring to secondary, and I didn't have any issues with infection. You'll only need just enough whiskey to cover the chips, seal them in a mason jar and leave at room temp.
