Which way is up?

Just got my my rhyizomes in from freshops and I just unsure about which way to plant the cascade (which is a nice size for their standards size). The end where there are two clean cuts I think is up (as I have it orented in picture 1 or to the left in picture 2), but the fresh new shoots/roots would then be coming out of the bottom. Which way would you plant it?

it doesn't matter much. Just chuck it in the hole on its side, like in the 2nd pic. The shoots will find their way out. It's their job, it's all they're meant to do, and they do it well.
