I'm thinking of doing a stout for my next BIAB brew and am thinking of either an oatmeal or milk stout.

I haven't done a stout before but am looking for one which will give a smooth velvety mouth feel with not too much bitterness.

I know it's very subjective but which would you go for, oatmeal or milk? And do you have any good recipes?

Thanks.

I think either would be good, but I like what oat amtl and flaked oats do to a beer, especially a dark one.

So my vote would go for the Oatmeal stout/porter.

Why not do an Oatmeal Cream Stout @DJM3 ?

I personally like an oatmeal cream stout just add a 1# of lactose at 10 minutes to your recipe and you’ll get the best of both worlds!

Cheers!

I agree! Why settle for one style or the other (sans for entering a competition) when you can have both?
