You could put an optic sensor on it to watch your current beer, and when you current glass gets to the 1/4 full mark, it starts working.

looks like a fanuc Irobot. nicer trick to pour. at first i thought: how shotty the programmer wouldnt prove out. till i realized what it was doing.. saving wrist movements.
