Hello,

Getting ready to brew a simple standard Weizen this weekend (50/50 wheat / pilsner).

Just wondering what kind of absorption rate the wheat malt has vs. standard barley malt.

With standard all barley based ale grain bills, I find I have around .12 gallons per pound absorption during the mash.

Do you guys making a lot of wheat beers find that it absorbs more? (I know I have heard that it does, somewhere, but don't know where....)

Tried to do a search on this, but not finding a lot of answers that way.

Thanks, and Cheers!

I don't think there's an appreciable difference in absorption between wheat and barley.

Thanks, Malkore.

Just fine tuning the recipe / procedure. No fun running out of wort in the mashtun before you hit the pre-boil volume!
