6 ibs Muton's Dry light malt extract
Crystal 30L (Steeped @ 160F)
3 oz Amarillo hops
11.5 g Safbrew US-05 Yeast (1 pack)

Wort Process
1. Steeped grain at 160F for 30min
2. At 60 min added .70 oz hops
3. At 20 min added .50 oz hops
4. At 10 min added .50 oz hops

With an estimated OG of around 1.053 and 20.2 IBUs with a 10 SRM, I'd say a nice session brew, malty, with a nice bitterness. Sounds like a tasty one though.

It fits in at the top end of the BJCP Blonde Ale guidelines (though it'll be a tiny bit too colourful.) Should be a tasty, easily drinkable brew :)

My guess would be beer.

Hey daveooph,
Your ingredient list shows 3 oz. of Amarillo, but you only account for 1.7 in the recipe. You didn't list the alpha acid %, so I'm assuming StoutFan calculated the IBU using the average alpha acid for Amarillo.

Should be a good beer as the recipe reads, but if you stick that extra 1.3 oz. in it would definitely change things.

The AA% I have is for Amarillo Gold, the stuff I buy. It's around 8.3%. And I only went by the additions. I though there was some missing, but not my recipe.

Thanks gusy...Well I asked for what it should taste like because I've already brewed it, and holy smokes it is bitter. It has been 5 weeks will this mellow? I don't think it is infected bitter, just over hopped for my liking.

The AA% was 8.0

boiled .70 for 60
boiled .50 for 20
boiled .50 for 10
dry hopped 1 oz for 4 days

Where did I go wrong???

I got 33.7 IBU's from BeerSmith but anyway it will mellow if you give it time.

Originally the IBU I got off tasty brew was 35...Right now the smell of citrus is almost knocking me out when I pull a pint from the keg. Then the actuall bitterness is just way too much I think. I feel like it is almost undrinkable, we'll see...I'll give it more time.

Let it mellow. I just got done with an IPA that was the same way. 3-4 weeks later, it's tasting great.

Went into primary, umm(checks old muscle car brewing calender) March 13th. Bottled the 30th. Started to be real good last week. So, yeah, about 9 weeks. Hope that helps.

Ya it does thanks....Just since cooling the keg for a few days as it carbs some of the bitterness is subsiding. I would now call it drinkable, so I think it will pan-out.
