SWMBO gave me $150 (***** free) money to spend on brewing stuff.. :rockin:

I'm thinking inline thermometer, little stuff I need but can't get over $50 with what I need. What cool to have but don't need item should I get?

"***** free"? Meaning normally, you catch a *****-out when you drop kish on brewing crunk? Time for a new wife, I'd say. ;)

If you don't have one, buy a grain mill. Barley Crusher. That way you can buy bulk grain and crush it yourself right before you brew. And save lots and lots of $$$

How about a PH test meter or a refractometer with ATC ... or both? Maybe an oxygen setup to inject o2 into your wort. Or a beer gun or a jockey box? Or another Ranco.

I'm kind of in the same boat except that I ran into a few bucks ($425 ) that SWMBO need not know about. My problem is getting them home and hidden in plain sight for sufficient amount of time that when she does take notice I can use the old " That old thing?. I've had that around for months."

I'm going for the BC, a Blichman thermometer and weldless, and new 80qt brewpot and another ball valve and weldless fitting. :mug:

Pre-paid Visa Debit cards For the Win!

Or she wears the pants and you wear a dress
SWMBO and I have been together over 20 years, It is damn near impossible to hide anything from her anymore.. She does not like my Brewing hobby.. I deal with it.. It's not about wearing pants, it's about long damn time keeping her happy.. I get bitched at for buying brew gear but I still buy it anyway :rockin:

18 years here and I know what you mean. It's not about the pants. You can beller and bluster and do what you want while you wear the pants, but she has ways of slowly wearing you down. Long term marriage is about compromise.

I've managed to keep it under the radar with simple distraction techniques. I've sold my soul on the last deal however. Much of my cost lately has been towards my brewery area in general. Shelving, work benches, drying racks etc have really nibbled away at the $'s. In desperation to finish my master plan, I mistakenly said I would invest = dollars/time into moving her out of the basement entirely. This really just entails me moving our laundry room upstairs.

In the end it means she very well might go months without entering the brewery, at the onslaught it means I have to split my time working on projects. One being the very nasty project of relocating water, power, gas, and drainage to new part of the house. Toss in some demo, new flooring for the destination, and countless other aspects of something I really wish I would have never mentioned, and I'm coming out on the bad end of this stick.

Anyway, back to the original question...

I would look for glaring holes in my current system, grain mill, CF or Plate chiller, additional carboys, etc. However, I assume you have the basics covered as you are looking for suggestions. I would start by replacing everything that causes issues with your current system. For instance, add that ball-lock to your keggle, or replace the braided mesh with a bazoo T. Next I would start looking at upgrades like SS racking canes, and silicone hoses. Lastly I'd check for some luxury items like pumps, con fermenters, 3 gal cornies, and picnic CO2 management.

Good luck, let us know what you decided on!
