I am going to participate in my first BJCP contest.

Some time ago I brewed a beer I liked a lot and the thing is, I have no clue what style it is.

Castle Pilsner 7.7 pounds
Castle Munich 1.1 pounds
Castle munich wheat 4 pounds

Chinook 0.3 oz 65 minutes
Hallertau mittelfruh 1 oz 30 minutes
Hallertau mittelfruh 1 oz 10 minutes

OG 1.062
FG 1.014

Yeast: US-05

IBU 25(Tinseth)

ABV 6.5% carbonated using 3.8 oz of corn sugar(5 gallons).

Just off hand I would say it would be closest to the cream ale category.

If you really want to get into competition, you should look over the categories and brew to the category specs. That is how your beer will be judged: how close it comes to meeting the category, not how enjoyable it may be as a beer.

I have judged quite a few beers that were great drinking but did not meet category and were knocked down for that.

The wheat and strength make it a poor fit for the Cream Ale subcategory, I think. Maybe an American Wheat (although its still big for that) or an American Pale Ale.

Read the guidelines, taste your beer and see where you think it fits best. Be guided by how the beer tastes.

How about "Imperial American Wheat"? (Under the Specialty Beer Category)
