I just picked a recipe out of a magazine for an English Brown Ale. Mashed in my overflowing 5 gallon cooler, couldn't even fit it all in the 7.? gallon kettle, and ended up with 6 gallons @ 1.078. I'll try and post the recipe.

...oh yeah, It turned into a freezer cleaning beer. The extract and the hops beside the fuggles were not part of the recipe. I was going to wash a Windsor cake and pitch that, but got worried about the high gravity, so used 2 packets of Nottingham. Dry hop with an ounce of cascade was decided as I was filling the carboy.
Is this similar to anything anybody else has made? How was it? What category does it fit in? Old ale works on Beersmith, but I was hoping for more of an India Brown Ale.
Thanks

PS: it smells awesome!!

An American old ale sounds about right. I don't think you have enough bitterness to call it an India Brown. Hope it turns out well, good luck, and welcome to the site.

Thanks, Oldsock. I hope it turns out really good. It started bubbling about 6 hours after pitching, and after about 6 hours of bubbling pretty good it just took off. I had to switch to a big blow-off tube. I aerated it for a full hour for this one. I'm going to start doing that every batch.

Texas Brown sounds good. I'll have to wait to decide, I guess.
