So yesterday I mixed up an experiment that's basically a cross between an acerglyn (some of the ferment is dark maple syrup) and a metheglin (spiced with allspice, clove, cinnamon, and a massive hand of ginger). Probably not super innovative, but the must smelled like ginger bread when I closed it up, so I'm hype to see how it turns out.

I'm not sure what to call it, though. I considered and discarded the idea of using a word that's some combination of "acerglyn" and "metheglin," briefly toyed with "superglin," then landed (I think) on "uberglyn." If someone thinks they have a better name, cool, but what I'm really asking is if there's already a word for these things. I can't be the first person to do this, but it surprisingly seems uncommon enough that there's not a term stuck to it yet, and I thought someone here might know something I don't.

I think most people would just call it a spiced acerglyn, exact names don't really matter if you're not entering a competition and if you are they'll usually have guidelines to help you figure it out

Or if you want it to be understandable by non-specialists, just call it a spiced maple mead. Sometimes the simple solution is better. If you are entering a contest, then you need to study the rules, but otherwise you can call it anything you want. How about "Redbeard's spiced maple mead"?

If you were to enter it into a competition, I believe it would be categorized as experimental.
I hope this helps yoy.
Happy meading 😎
