I finally got to cook my turkey dinner yesterday. With Dad passing away on the 11/18, Thanksgiving did not happen here. So, I got me a 22 pound turkey and roasted that sucker to golden brown perfection, along with that we had homemade garlic mashed taters, gravy made with homecanned turkey stock, pearl onions in butter sauce, crispy-edged stuffing, and homemade sugarfree cranberry jalapeno sauce. Just me and KOTC. Needless to say, we'll be eating on the leftovers for a while - YUM!

Sorry, no pics, but I'm guessing you all pretty much know what a turkey dinner looks like!

Sorry for your loss. Really.

We need pics next time. The mental image I have based on that description...mmmmhmmmm. Sounds delicious.

This is the first Thanksgiving in 8-9 years I haven't smoked a turkey. Went to Maine last year and brought my smoker with me to smoke the turkey. I went to Maine again this Thanksgiving. However, I didn't not bother bringing the smoker. So, I roasted this 14-pounder. Came out great. With a beer, of course. Kept everything simple.

fettuccine carbonara with cappicollo and freshly sliced prosciutto, and a Chianti to wash it down!

Liquid was homemade chicken stock i rendered all yesterday afternoon, dried California chiles, tortillas and fire roasted tomatoes.

Garnished with fresh fried tortilla strips (!), corn, black beans, chicken, cheese, avocado slices and a dollop of sour cream.

Ate 2 huge bowls of this and now I don't have room for beer.
