A recent news feed had a link to the favorite holiday drinks for each state. The drink for my state was listed as a “ Cranberry Mimosa”. I have lived here 35 years and never had one, nor even heard of it. Of course, I am just another redneck; not someone accustomed to the sophisticated lifestyle.

Nevertheless, I am open to new things, (within reason), and looked up a recipe. I found:

4 oz sparkling wine
2 oz cranberry juice
Garnished with fresh cranberries and wedged orange.

I must admit; I found it a bit lacking and added an ounce of gin. I didn’t have fresh cranberry on hand, but did have cooked cranberries. NOTE: Never add the sugar that the package calls for; ½ cup is a pleny!

In any case; this recipe turned out great with the wife; so that’s an automatic win!

I’m always looking for fun cocktails that are seasonally appropriate. Our last hit was a fall aperol spritz.

Equal parts:
Sparkling wine
Aperol
Spiced apple cider

Garnish with a star anise and cinnamon stick. Some recipes called for cutting up apple chunks and freezing them in a large ice cube.
