Water Cooler?

I've seen some pics of peoples home brew kits and some have water coolers being used. more specifically, gatorade type coolers. what exactly is that used for?

It's a MLT (Mash / Lauter Tun) used in AG (All Grain) brewing to mash the grains with hot water to make wort.

Mashing grains depends on very precise (within a degree F) temperature control for a hour or more. Coolers are used as mash tuns because they combine ease of use, modification and insulation.
