DO you know what happens when you leave a few bottles of home brew in a hot ice chest for 7 months???

We were cleaning out some old crap last night, and I found a few bottles in an ice chest from a fishing trip last July 4th. When SWMBO went to through out the bottles, the slightest impact caused a chain reaction and the bottles were exploding like crazy. Poor SWMBO got hit with a piece of glass and put a 1 inch cut on her forehead. I did not bleed too bad, but it was scary, it just missed her eye.

The moral of the story is never return from a fishing trip with undrank beer!!!

What triggers the carbonation build-up, heat cycles...?

EDIT: good thing no major injury occurred ...

Actually there was 2 bottles of homebrew and 3 bottles of Fat Tire. I am not sure which blew first, but the force was enough to cause all 5 to explode.
