Ive got a few mason jars of us 05 in the fridge for about 6 months. Is it still good? Don't want to ruin a batch but if I can use it,why not.I haven't opened them since I put them in the fridge

I just used some washe wlp500 in my Belgian IPA that was fine after making a nice starter for it. From what I gather as long as it's in the fridge and you make a starter it should be fine. But that's why a starter helps as if the yeast is not viable then you'll know when you make the starter.

I guess the answer is the cost of a packet, known to be what it is vs the cost of making a starter. I keep slurries in the fridge as well, tough question when to let go....
