Am I understanding this right. a venturi not only pumps but aerates the wort? If so, how effective is this as compared to a pump or other aeration methods? It seems to good to be true for the simplicity and cost of the setup.

A venturi is made by creating a pressure differential by using placing some kind of restrictor in the path of a flow and then using the low pressure on the opposite side of the restrictor to draw in air/fluid/whatever into the flow. Think of it as a syphon but instead of gravity doing the work you are using pressure.

I am not familiar with venturi type pumps other than those used to pull a vacuum
