Hi all. I have a porter in primary. The final ABV should be around 9%. I want to hide the boozy taste by using vanilla and wood chips in secondary. I bought vanilla powder but it says to use it at time of kegging. Since this is going straight to keg, I don't see a problem.

Has anyone used the vanilla powder?
Any problems or challenges with it?
Any lessons learned?
Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance!

Never used powder . I dont think I'd use it . I've made a tincture and worked really good. How many gallons ? I would get 4 vanilla beans and scrape really good . Pour just enough vodka or bourben ( whatever floats your boat) and place in a dark closet. Let it sit for a week then toss in for secondary . I've never used powder so I could be wrong . Good luck and I'm sure its gonna turn out tasty !
