valves ball or butterfly????

recently i had an opportunity to volunteer in a brewery and learned a lot...
My question to the quorum of beer knowledge, is i always see ball valves but no butterfly valves under 1" do they exist?

You can get 1/2" butterfly valves from McMaster Carr, however they are made of brass and use a rubber gasket material to seal the actual butterfly. I'm not sure I'd use them with hot liquids of any description

I haven't seen under 1" but I would bet they'd run you quite a bit. You can do three piece ball valves if you're concerned about sanitation, they disassemble easily.

Adamant makes sanitary 1/2" and 3/4" with tri-clamp ends.

Expect some sticker shock.
