I figured this falls into this category. So my girlfriend and i have gotten a little bored using oak chips and have recently acquired a 5 gallon oak barrel. I know that with using barrels they have to be constantly kept full or you run the risk of contamination.
My first thought was to do a 1-4 ratio of whiskey. ie 1 gallon of whiskey to 4 gallons of water.
any suggestions would be appreciated.
