Ok so I have a one gallon batch of IPA that I brewed a little over a week ago and I'm about to take a hydrometer test. I don't want to waste any of my batch because iris so small so can I just sanitize the hydrometer and drop itin the 1 gallon fermenter to take the reading or not???

Sure can...you're basically just taking a density reading and as long as your wort sugars are evenly distributed throughout the batch (which basically just means it's been stirred) you'll get the same result from dropping it in the fermenter as you will from using the tube which comes with the hydrometer...
