There are a lot of recipes out there with raisins... Well what about dates?

Anybody ever try using dates as a fruit addition? I'm curious as to what flavors or aromas they could add.

I recently added dates to a belgian quad (on a whim). Actually, I added the dates to half the batch. I have not done a side-by-side, but I can say it's freaking delicious. I don't think I can taste them - this is a very rich beer.

I just did a Belgian Dubbel using dates. I chopped up 6 oz and put themin a hop sack at the end of the boil, and then added some date sugar after a few days of fermentation.

Just took a gravity reading and it is very good. I can slightly taste the dates. I am going to bottle it next week.
