I've got a 15 gal plastic conical fermenter with two stainless steel ball valves for bottling and dumping trub. For the past month or so, it's been sitting around with a chlorox solution in it (just cholorox & water at approx 1/4 cup per 5 gal H2O). Partially to get the residual odor from the one and only batch it's had in it and partially because I've been too lazy to empty and rinse it properly. Then I remember reading somewhere that chlorine solutions can be bad for stainless, so I'm a little concerned about my steel fittings.
Is it okay to leave the chlorox solution in my conical for a few weeks, or do I need to get it out of there? If the answer is "never" is there anything I CAN use to get the odor out and/or leave for a long time if I get lazy?
Thanks for the words,
