I've been doing extract batches for almost a year now and this spring I'm planning on moving to all grain.

In the mean time, to keep busy, I'm trying to figure out my water (NYC).

I've been looking at the DEP water report for '07 and it does not list the bicarbonate value.

Is there a way to calculate this based on what is there?

Do I need to bother?

I'm using BeerAlchemy and there is a field for bicarbonates. . .

I'm very, very new to this so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Chris

Divide your Alkalinity as CaCO3 by 50 and multiply by 61, according to Palmer.

If you don't mind, would you post or add links to your water reports to the thread linked in my signature to help fellow homebrewers in your area out?
