I recently purchased a solid maple mash paddle and I'm unsure if it's necessary to treat. I've read of people using a mineral type oil or butchers block oil. Some have also said not to treat at all. Curious what others have done. Will any of these oils end up in my wort? I know they are food safe but I'm worried it will effect my wort in a negative way..... I wouldn't treat it with anything. Any oils you use will end up in your beer and quite possibly kill your head retention and possibly affect taste as well (less likely, I suppose).

Thanks! Was pretty much what I was thinking. I appreciate the input.

I've never treated mine. No issues. Leave if au natural.
