Transfering between bottles

Hello everyone, new to the forum... been a lurker for awhile.

Anyways...

I have some beer bottled in 22oz bottles and want to enter 2 bottles in a home brew competition, which only accepts 12oz bottles.

The beer is already completely carb'ed up.

Is there anyway to easily and safely transfer the beer from the 22oz bottles to 12oz bottles without affecting the carbonation, etc.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Sadly no. You'll loose carbonation and likely introduce oxygen into the beer causing oxidation. Lesson learned, always bottle up at least a 6 pack of clean conforming 12ozers if you have your thoughts on entering a competition. Do check the competition rules carefully, many competitions say 22oz are discouraged but will accept the entry.

thank you... that is what I was afraid of.

unfortunately for me, I checked and they will not accept anything larger than a 16oz.

lesson learned, indeed.
