So the other night I was moving some stuff around in my crawl space (AKA bulk aging/storage area) and two vessels banged together, shattering one and I lost its contents forever.

I wasn't hurt but could have easily cut my finger. Or severed a tendon. Or tripped and got a jagged piece of glass right through my heart, killing me instantly.

So not only did I lose the MGD bottle that shattered, but 30-some centilitres of perfectly good carbonated Orange Seville Sangria was wasted.

Should I start using nothing but PET bottles just in case?

Plastic is cheaper and lighter too! I think easier to clean than glass carboys as well...and can be replaced every few years or so if they ever develop scratches. Hard to cut yourself on a plastic bucket.

Beer in plastic containers...sheesh! Burn him! burn him at the steak for heresy! .... peck.
