I just ordered a 3" tower.Id like to drill a 3" hole in granite to get the most air into tower.Ive been told not to Drill 3" in hole because its to close to mounting holes in flange and could crack the granite.Ive been told 2" hole.
Anyone have any experience mounting a tower on granite, and what did you do??
Granite shop dilling holes,not me

I would drill the mounting holes then the center. Do not use expansion type hardware. Nut and bolt all the way through.

Who told you not to drill the 3? If it was the granite shop, then I would trust their judgement. Granite is not cheap. If you go with a 2" hole and there is not enough cooling, you could always add a fan. That would be a lot cheaper than adding a new piece of granite.

I would go smaller than the tower for sure, since the mounting holes are so close to the outside edge of the tower. I'd think 2.5" would be fine though, giving you more than 1/4" of material between the holes.

Went with a 2 1/4 hole that will fit a 2" pvc pipe.On a side note,he charged me $200 for the granite with the 2 1/4 hole and bullnose.Which is a sleal, was getting numbers of $850.And then charged me $150 just for the four mounting holes. Almost the same as the whole countertop!!Said he would burn up a $150 bit on four holes.I thought that was a bit crazy.

Mine was a very successful installation and came out professionally done and strong.

The granite craftsman cut a 2 inch hole in granite above the hole in the kegerator on center

---- Turn the floor flange upside down

Galvanized Floor Flange, 3/4"

---- Use rubber seal under floor flange and between granite surface

2 ½ rubber seal - 2-1/2" Buna N Cam and Groove Gasket -- Or equivalent

---- Find a ¾ pvc pipe threaded both ends to the length you need – mine was a 6 inch

Use 3/4 threaded reducer bushing inside kegerator

Drill holes in the bottom of the floor flange and thread for short screws that hold your draft tower to the floor flange
