I know there is a ton of threads on here about toasting oats but I still haven't really found my answer. The question is....if I toast my oats will that dry out the oils that add to mouthfeel and head retention? I do want the toasty undertone but I don't want to lose the other attributes of the oats?

For oatmeal stout recipes, I see that some people advocate toasting the oats first. I'm assuming that's to add some "roastiness" to it. But my question: is that really necessary when you already have roasted malts in the bill to do that?
