thick head from keg

I get nothing but thick white head from my keg when dispensing beer from a keg. Its a first batch and it was naturally carbed. I dont have CO2 cylinder yet so using portable dispenser kit with little CO2 cartridges and I get full glass of foam when trying to pour some brew. The head settles to liquid after 5 min or so. My picnic tap has no hose, could that be a culprit in my case?

you really need 6' or more of 3/8" hose. less or no hose will hose it up

thats what I was reading here, just wasnt quite sure.

will beer line assembly fix my problem? It says 5' of hose, should be long enough?
