Has anyone else come across these carboys made by "Roush Life Sciences"?? I don't see any available listed as BPA free or PET (although there are a few different materials available). They seem to be marketed towards lab-work, but they just look like they would make the perfect fermenter.

-edit- YouTube link corrected... And apparently the food safe Copolyester is BPA free.

The 40L looks nice. Supposedly fermenters with square corners result in dead spaces reducing yeast circulation and may lead to off flavors. Not sure how true that is.

Most of the models say BPA free as well as FDA grade but I am not to sure on the meaning of that one. I shot them an email to get a bit more info and will post what I find out but it has been my experience that these types of suppliers don't come cheap and usually require a bulk order. The fact that you can't find prices on the website make me wonder just how much these cool little things are gonna cost. As for the square sides I use them and have no problems and I love the better bottle comment. Forgot about those 3 gal ones.

Heh:D Like I said, "supposedly". I think this came from an interview with Palmer, so it may just be his personal theory, untested. IMO, I have a hard time believing the yeasties get lost in the corners and can't find their way out. Wort can't ferment in a corner? Anyway, I think the 40L carboy looks great if it is not overly expensive.

Well, I brew 2.5 gal batches at home and split 10 gal batches with a buddy on the rare occasion I can get a Saturday off, so I have an assortment of 3 gal and 6 gal fermenters...

And I wonder if enough of us contact them, maybe this company ends up seeing a whole new market they didn't expect and finds a supplier in the home brew world. Might make it cheaper than direct buying one off orders.

Was trying to find the right words, but you win!

I was thinking "Eff that ****" but like I said before I have found those companies to be simply in the market for schools and government labs that are happy to spend taxpayer money for items that cost far less to make. UH-Merica!!!!:fro:
