We need to do a blind Pils showdown.

Lots of quality around now:

Bird Park
Ned Hall (yeah I’m biased)
STS
Spezial
Follow The Sun
Heater Allen
Reality Czech (someone needs to get some)
Trumer
Pfriem
Choppy Surf
Sudwork
Trader Joe’s Pilzner (might as well get a bargain beer in the mix)

What else?

I forgot The Heiress and Bagby Pils.

The pils on at Original 40 is damn fine.
How is Original 40? I don't want to judge it based on its lineage but, yeah.

What else?
Firestone Walker Lager
Live Oak Pils
Pick Six Pils (RIP)
Normcore
Summerfest
Rothaus Pils (probably the best I've had)

I’m a few drinks deep after dinner at el comal, so apologies in advance if I’m blatantly missing this, but does that list have anything from eppig? Spoiler alert, they’re gonna win

It's good. Best beers I've had from a brewery barely in its first month. Food was good too

I'd put up any Amplified lagers against those. Licensed to Pils, Pocketful of Helles... The pils should be on at Live Wire right now. Helles is going in Cali Tap Room (the pretzel place by Hess) next week.

To be fair, I don’t think their straight up pilsner has been on tap for months now.
Yeah I didnt add them purely because it was a Pils-off, not a general lager-off, but yeah, if it was the latter, Eppig would handily sweep the floor. I still dream of the zwickelbier.

So I went there twice when they first started out. I was told that I couldn't bring board games from AtEase across the threshold to the brewery and couldn't bring beer across the threshold back to AtEase. So much for a "partnership". Perhaps that rule changed, but I doubt it since there were always a lot of underagers playing games. And I doubt they would risk their license if a beer magically ended up in their hands.

What's the relationship there between Barrel Harbor and At Ease? I almost feel like At Ease was, at times, a lot busier than Barrel Harbor.

I have 0 idea. They are quite busier than Barrel Harbor ever was. For well over a year I am still waiting on a call that someone dropped out of a DnD group so that I could join up.

You've gotta be bat-**** crazy to open up a new brewery in this current beer climate.
Word.

The Hopnonymous business model is interesting - the thought of a white-label craft brewery is pretty cool. But I have to think that most restaurants/hospitality groups won't pay the presumed premium for their "own" beer that may be marginally better (or even worse) than, say, the Karl Strauss they have on tap.
