I have had three Tapright that failed this way after 1.5 yrs and one Harris that failed after 3 yrs. What they do is that over time i cannot increase the pressure over 10 psi. I usually set them at 12 psi for stored beer. When I am carbonating a beer I increase slowly over 3hrs until I set it to 17-18 psi and leave it there for 24 hrs. So when they start failing then I cannot carbonate beer anymore. Once they cannot go over 12psi I cannot touch it because then i cannot get the knob to 12 again. As i increase pressure the knob get hard as a rock to turn. I have regulators stored with CO2 bottle inside kegerator and also only outside. Problem happens in both cases. I'm i doing something wrong? How can i fix it if possible? initially I blamed the cheap China Taprights and got the douple price Harris. Well, I guess it is the same. Any help? Thanks.

I've had my 4 gang taprites for about 6 years, maybe a little more, they get tight sometimes when I increase pressure what I have found helps is to physically push on them as you twist them. I don't know if there is any mechanical reason for this but if I just turn them they are tight like you're saying, but apply some pressure and they turn, not like super easy but noticeably easier. Mine are wall mounted so it makes is easy for me to lean on them to turn them... I'm sure that this isn't the case but I'll mention it any cause you never know, you are making sure the lock nut is backed off far enough that it isn't stopping you from turning them right?

Thanks. I just tried that and it didn't work. When new I was able to rotate the knob easily all the way to 20 psi so I think the lock nut should be fine.

Some galling going on with the adjuster threading? Do you still have one of the bad "Tapright" regulators to play with?

Cheers!
