It's that time of year.
It seems like pumpkin beers are a popular topic lately. I made one last year that was pretty good, I was going to make a few subtle changes. I've been kicking around the idea of adding canned sweet potatoes instead of pumpkin. Spice it very similar to a pumpkin ale, maybe add cinnamon.

Any thoughts on this? I was going to add the sweet taters in the mash just like the pumkin recipes.

I have also flirted with this idea a bit. The Bruery produces a beer called Autumn Maple that is made with Yams...quite tasty. I would smash them up really good and be sure to use some rice hulls so you dont get a stuck mash.
