Alright so I am messing around with BeerSmith and trying to come up with a new recipe for the summer. Basically I am using what I have at my house and I was wondering if these hops mix very well or any suggestions you have for a summer IPA that is light in color and a little lighter on the hops. Let me know what you think of this one and your feedback is appreciated.

It looks good! Although, for a lighter summer drinker, you may want to change up the columbus and amarillo hops. columbus can be "heavy" and kind of harsh in late additions, but I like it. I'd not "waste" amarillo at 30 minutes, though, as you won't get much flavor from them and you won't get much bitterness either. They're not my choice for bittering hops, as they have great flavor and aroma so I like using them at 15 minutes or less for that great citrusy flavor and aroma. I'd switch the columbus and amarillo additions, but not increase the IBUs, and leave out the 30 minute addition and bring those amarillos to near the end of the boil.

Thanks for the idea I think I will mess around with that one. You are right about the Columbus I should have thought about that.

I definitely agree on the use of Amarillo as a late addition (and I personally never use it until inside 5 minutes left in the boil). I really like Columbus as a late addition personally, but only paired with cascade/centennial. I don't think it goes well with the overaly sweetish/fruity hops (amarillo, citra....)

Hmm well you guys have given me some great ideas I am going to mess around with it and then brew Sunday. I will post my thoughts.

So I made a few changes to the recipe taking your advice on here. Let me know if this looks better and I might give it a try this weekend. Thanks!!
