I have some ingredients on the way and I am not sure exactly what to do with them. I have an idea of what I might want to do with the hops, but I am not sure how I should split the grains for this ... any ideas? I am still pretty new to this brewing stuff and any ideas would be great.

2x 8 LB Ultralight Malt Extract Bag
Yeast (Dry) - Safale US-05 (11.5 g)
Hop (Pellets) - Summit (4 oz)
Hop (Pellets) - Cascade (2 oz)
Hop (Whole) - Willamette (2 oz)
1lb Malt - Crystal 40L
1lb Malt - Crystal 60L
1lb Malt - Crystal 120L

I was thinking making one lightly hopped with:
.5oz summit (60min)
.5oz cascade (15min)
.5oz Willamette (5min)

And the other more hoppy like:
.75oz summit (60min)
1oz cascade (15min)
.5oz Summit (5min)
.5oz Willamette (5min)
1oz Willamette (Dry hopped)

Looking at that ingredient list, I'd brew two beers: American Pale Ale and American Amber.

The hops profiles you listed work well for that, the first being the Amber and the second APA.

Grists are just as easy. For the APA, use one bag of extract and all of the 40L crystal. For the Amber, use the other bag of extract, 1/2 lb 60L and 1/3 lb (5-6 oz) of the 120L crystal.

Of course, you'll need more yeast...but another sachet of S-05 will cover that nicely!

Cheers,

Bob

Ok so I will follow that advice, I will brew the following:

American Amber:

1 pack Safale s-05
8Lbs Pale malt
1lb crystal 60L
.33lb crystal 120L
.5oz summit (60min)
.5oz cascade (15min)
.5oz Willamette (5min)

American Pale
:

1 pack Safale s-05
8Lbs Pale malt
1lb crystal 40L
.75oz summit (60min)
1oz cascade (15min)
.5oz Summit (5min)
.5oz Willamette (5min)
1oz Willamette (Dry hopped)
