I have decided to brew a Northern English Brown ale this weekend, and AHB is out of special roast. What would be a good substitute for this grain?

Thanks for the answers, I upped my victory malt and am adding some Crystal 60L. My main concern is I don't want to lose any of the flavor and aroma that special roast adds.

Maybe you are doing Brown Ale from Jamil Zainasheff's book? I am in similar situation - no special roast.
How did your recipe finally look like, without this malt?

I'm not sure there's a direct sub, but the victory sounds nice, and I just did a brown porter with a pound of brown malt that I'm very optimistic about. Home-toasted malt in a brown ale is nice, too.
